MY STORY

Hey! I am Ginny, the creator of Inspired in the Woods. I am a freelance artist, teacher, wife, and homeschooling mom to two kids.
Inspired in the woods started by doing just that, taking long walks in the woods and becoming totally inspired by nature. I moved from Grand Rapids to the Stanwood area in 2016 and fell in love with the land. My art and teaching style are inspired deeply by being outside.
Prior to starting Inspired in the Woods, I graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. I worked as a designer for a few years before putting my all into homeschooling, homesteading and teaching. I lead After School art at Artworks in Big Rapids as well as summer camps between 2017-2020. I taught wine and canvases for a year for other companies before opening my own business in 2018. I have taught classes at private residences, public venues and finally, right here on our farm in Stanwood, which leads to where we are now.
Currently, I offer painting classes, wire wrapping classes and outdoor experiences at our property in Stanwood. Art classes can be held at your place or a public venue as well. I also lead a group called Outdoor Explorers; a group of homeschoolers that get together for hikes, farm days, art projects and field trips. We stay busy around here, but we love it!
We enjoy sharing our love for the land and would love to have you join us sometime!
